The development of management arts, the manger must be educated
The evolution of business built primarily on the development of management art, the manager must be well educated, gave good will and use his talents and his staff talents and uses his experience and his staff expertise to achieve the goals of the institution which he sits on top. Also the director should be having the will to keep up with the development of science, even if he is old age, because there is no specific age at which learning ends.
The Director could be initially successful and lead his organization to the success, but after a while this success stops because he failed to keep up with the recent changes that have made on the administration, which the competitors keep up with it and they succeed because of this, and therefore the manager should not depend on his old experience but he should educate and diversified experience and develop it through learning new administration science by reading about administration arts and going to conferences and attend relevant seminars.
The history of the world is filled with managers that are losers who caused failure of their organizations because of their bad management and looses all the work they have carried out, at the same time the world is filled with successful managers who achieved great targets led their institutions to the top of success, and invent and managed great works and projects by themselves and after them these projects went from success after success.
There is no doubt the good management has success factors and bad management has failure reasons and I will discuss below the factors and reasons that lead to failure and the success of the administration.
The reasons that lead the administration to failure divided into two parts:
Section I: regarding the way of the Director work.
The second: concerns the personal manners of the Director in the administration.
There are three things that can be identified that lead the Director to failure in the administration
wrong mandate: which has great importance in business management, as the mandate makes the entire work depends on few persons and cripple and restrict the activity of the many workers and end up in abject failure because many jobs placed only on the managers offices and this is the problem of all problems, and the staff in the organization on all levels refuses to express their opinion on any thing pending the decision of the Director and the result that his time become too short to accommodate all of the matters submitted to him, then all jobs accumulate and there will be a time that he fed up the Director and the few managers who were with him to carry the burden of the entire administration and the work Deteriorate.
Also, the mandate of all the authorities, without adequate control makes the matter out of the Director's hands gradually until he ends and become negligent.
good administration works in the middle, mandate a certain amount of work and keep for himself the affective decisions in the organization work and its future. follow up each official in his work continuously and actively, and as long as all employees see these vigilance and insistence on accountability they will do their best to carry out their responsibilities competently.
Not rising to the level of the new responsibility: where a lot of managers when they promote to give up their past specialties or jobs and they don't rise to a new level of responsibility.
the director of any department in the organization if he promoted to be the first director of the organization he continue to follow up and manage his past region, directing its work and controlling it's activities, leaving the follow-up and management of the other regions to others which made him ignore the work of other regions in the organization in the necessary way that required of him.
Not paying attention to signs of danger as some of the managers can pick up from the given information and reports which he receive daily the risk areas that affect his work and the organization thereby acting immediately to find solutions that overcome them, and some of them don't pay attention to this but only to the minor things and leave the problems of his organization, which may draw his attention some of subordinates to him, but he insist to stick to his way of thinking and consider them as pessimistic narrow minds and he get annoyed by them and their warnings but he may even accuse them that their estimates doesn't not have reasons the Director may also force those subordinates to be silent by the request of the hypocrite employees which are closed to him to solve the problems and finding solutions then they rush and give weak ideas applying remedy for the problems that happened lately but not solving the roots of the problems which means solve nothing, and the Director gets happy by these proposals and continue to dream far that is exactly before seeing the business is deteriorating in front of his eyes
There are four properties which can be identified concerning the Director's personal behavior in administration. that if any director have them, it will harm the success in his work, namely: -
1 - The Director is not intended for the requirements of his work is neither technically nor morally, and is not intended to evolve or change. He solves small problems but does not discuss the new problems and does not want to recognize them or stand on its merit.
2 - The Director does not care about anything after reaching the job rank that would please him in the organization where he has achieved all his hopes. So nobody can push him to achieve larger goals and thus he preferred his own personal interest than work and he estimates his efficiency greater than what it is.
3 - The Director gets board from commenting on his work and he makes a lot of criticism for others and his foundation and his colleagues and subordinates and clients.
4 – Director could be patients and may have a chronic disease continuous or his family conditions is bad enough to affect his work.
The factors of management success are definitely the opposite reasons that lead to the failure of the administration. The right mandate and rising to the level of responsibility and paying attention to signs of deviations, as well as personal proper conduct are all factors of success adding to it the Director's will of success and his governed by it and personal characteristics to qualify for success. It is the creative capacity it is essential for the manager, I will recall some of them: -
• the desire to seek success and work for it and it is a permanent and continuous desire does not fade even with obstacles and doesn't stop with difficulties or changes, or instability.
• Director knowledge for his abilities. The director knows his strengths and weak points in his personality, so he make plans for the far goals in long-term work steps for increasing of the strengths and overcome weaknesses, he discusses his goals for himself and his responsibilities and correct track from time to another.
• Have the ability to attract qualified staff and work with them in harmony and earn their loyalty and changing their positions each time giving them new responsibilities measuring their abilities from time to another. looking for weakness and correct it, and their strengths and improving it and encourage them to work to achieve their personal goals from their success, and inspires them to be creative and gives them powers that let them do it to get the best of them.
• He doesn’t fear danger he takes important decisions to face of difficulties, he makes decisions and knows how to listen to his staff before making decisions, to have an opinion contrary to his opinion is right may come from where is not expected.
• He is confident of himself and his work he controls his emotions and jealousy and he has the ability and power to prove it always.
• He makes learning an ongoing task and keeps himself away from specialization for not making his specialization an obstacle or a fence around him to prevent his upgrade.
• He knows how to delegate responsibility and authority among his subordinates all of them would be appreciated if he deserves it in succeeding as both of them bear the responsibility of his failure.
• He refuses to be controlled by rigid rules that doesn't change, encourages participation in working projects, He lead some of them by himself giving the spirit of teamwork in every case.
• He knows all about methods of modern management believes that the world is changing and that working conditions are changing, the system which he puts now is not a system for life but is subjected to change from time to time and he has to devote sufficient time to pursue studying the change and sufficient time as well to teach this change to others. Because the fact that the Director is educated and a educator at the same time.
• He thinks positively, and exploits the properties of his employees and ignores and neglects their imperfections and knows well how to urge them not to impose his opinion on them, but to reach to the best performance without infringing on their jurisdiction.
The bottom line is that all successful managers are alike, but every looser manager has his own failure reason. The manager is sitting on the top of his institution or very close to the top, and He falls too soon He wonders why, people asked him what happened and what really happened is that the world has changed around this director and he remained on the same place doesn’t notice signs of change, and stopped learning, and doesn’t know anything about modern management styles and he continued to work in the vicinity of a routine and surround himself with a group of employees who owe him allegiance, and decorated things to him the opposite of what it really is and finally make decisions not based on scientific bases so he drops and the institution drops also and looses its name and the level which it had been occupied in profitability and market.
This has happened to many managers and many institutions and will happen to other managers and other institutions the world of management has changed and it is no longer the oldest employee existing is the Director but became the successful and the one who know how to keep up going with the changing management world.
